Honey (our car)
vinyl decal on a 2006 Honda Civic
174.8" x 68.9" x 53.5"
2008

My wife Eve Biddle and I wrapped our car with an image of an octopus reaching hungrily for a t-bone steak.

Desire, consumption, meat, gas, sex, economy, and the absurd have entangled the car. The project is an exploration of our place within American culture.

We have named the car Honey.

For our honeymoon we drove the car from New York City to Alaska and back. Along the way we interviewed the people we met who approached us about our car. Our discussions began with the octopus and the steak and ended up about gas prices, mortgages, farm industry, racial tensions, bears, boxing and other miscellany, sketching this moment in American and Canadian history.

In 2016, we sold the car to a friend. It can occasionally be spotted in the Clinton Hill neighborhood of Brooklyn, and southern Maine.
